Prompt de Resistance Privacy Notice
Last updated 5 April 2024
This privacy notice applies to Prompt de Resistance (PdR), a game that enables players to submit prompts, share, and vote on the visual outputs of those prompts using artificial intelligence (AI) based on third party foundation models (the “Services”). The Services are owned, licensed, and operated by Mozilla Corporation (referred to herein as "we," "us," "our," or "Mozilla").
This privacy notice explains what information PdR collects, shares, and processes, and why. We also adhere to the Mozilla Privacy Policy when we receive, handle, and share personal information. Your use of the Service constitutes your acceptance of this privacy notice, which incorporates by reference our Terms of Service (“Terms”).
Things you should know
Third Party Accounts
- Third Party Accounts. In order to use the Services, the user acting as the model operator will need to create a Hugging Face account on the Hugging Face sign-up page and your Hugging Face account is subject to Hugging Face’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Third Party Communications Systems. You will need to use a third party communications system, such as Zoom, in order to play the game with others. We do not own, operate, or control these systems and your use of any third-party communication system is subject to that system’s terms of service, privacy policy, and other policies.
Information we Collect
We collect the following information directly from you when you use the Services:
- Outputs. There are currently no foundation models or similar AI-based platforms operated by or affiliated with Mozilla. However, the Service allows you to prompt selected foundation models offered by third parties (“Third-Party Models”) for image generation by submitting a prompt to a model operator who then feeds that prompt to the Third-Party Models through the Service. We process the content of your prompts and any other content to the Service (“Inputs”) in order to run them through Third-Party Models and generate results (“Outputs”). We do not store any of this information. If the model operator abandons a prompt session or the game or navigates away from our site, we will save prompts for our internal usage, but all other Inputs and Outputs will be discarded by your browser and irretrievably lost.
- Communications, Reports, and Feedback. The Service allows you to provide communications, feedback, and report suspected violations of our Terms and other policies, which are in turn reviewed by human moderators by contacting us via this Google Form. If you contact us, including to provide feedback or report a violation, we will retain any personal information you may share with us for as long as we need to review, adjudicate, and resolve the case, or as otherwise required by law.
- Metrics. We may also use cookies, device information, and IP addresses, along with clear GIFs, cookies, and third party services to securely operate the Service, help us understand how users engage with our Service, such as visits to our site and settings preferences, and provide additional functionality. We use:
- Google Analytics to obtain metrics on how users engage with our websites. This helps us to improve site content. For more information about how Google uses your personal information, please visit Google Analytics’ Privacy & Security. You can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent data collection about your visits to the Service and prohibit data transmission to Google Analytics.
We also receive the following information from third parties when you use the Service:
- Model query data. When you use the Service to submit prompts to Third-Party Models, we automatically receive a payload back that contains the image URL, time it takes to generate the image, and information about errors with processing the prompt, if any, and the model Outputs in response to the query. We do not store this data beyond temporarily caching it to process your query and return the Outputs to you.
We may also use information about you to find and address violations of our Terms or policies; investigate suspicious activity; detect, prevent, and combat harmful or unlawful behavior; and otherwise maintain the integrity of our Service.
Information We Share.
We use third parties to provide the Service to you, and have contracted with these companies requiring them to protect your information (Third-Party Services):
- MongoDB. MongoDB is a database management program. We use MongoDB for indexing and file storage.
- OpenAI. OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company that offers certain foundation models for individual and enterprise use, APIs, and other services. We use OpenAI (and specifically DALL·E 3) to provide access to certain Third-Party Models via our Services.
Third-Party Services, including any Outputs generated by the use of Third-Party Services and Third-Party Models, are subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If the Services unknowingly collects personal information from a child under the age of 18 without parental consent, we will delete that information as soon as possible, unless we have a legal obligation to keep it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has uploaded personal information to our site without your consent, you may contact us as described in “How to Contact Us” below.
